Compare and Contrast the Devil in the White City and Columbine
Compare and Contrast the Devil in the White City and ColumbineCompare and contrast the devil in the white city and Columbine; two of the great novels ever written. In these days of television and movies, we would not be able to imagine the work of authors like Charles Dickens, but there are some great reasons why we should learn about it and how to compare and contrast the devil in the white city and Columbine. We may choose to read one or the other, but the author himself chose to publish these two books in print, and they each tell a story of love, loss, revenge, discovery, and of course redemption for the good and evil characters in the book. There is no difference between the two, except that in the story of The Canterbury Tales, we have a rather darker message. However, both of these books take us on an adventurous journey through time. The Devil in the White City bywords James Joyce. This book was first published in 1922 and although today we think of this book as being an entert aining tale, there are many hidden meanings in the book. This book is very popular with readers and authors who want to explore what their characters want in their lives. To make a comparison between these two books, and whether one is better than the other, one could look at what happened in this novel, and compare it to the modern day lives of the characters. For example, in this book Mary Martin, plays two characters, Lavinia and Hamlet.Charles Dickens's The White Company is set in the early 1700s and deals with a group of soldiers during the English Civil War. The novel was later turned into a movie starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. As a matter of fact, all of the characters are very similar to their contemporaries, with the main character that seems to be the focal point of the story; there is no difference at all between the characters in this novel and the characters in The White Company. However, this book does contain some references to past events and those events are reflected in the movie. In fact, there are so many similarities between the two books, that if I compared the devil in the white city and the Columbine, I could easily conclude that they are more alike than different. One of the most interesting differences is the size of the group of characters that are in each story. In The White Company, we are shown how the military and politicians lost control of their actions, and therefore the wrongness of the war, which in turn caused an even greater disaster. On the other hand, in The Devil in the White City, we are shown that perhaps even more people are involved in the tragedy than in the war between England and Scotland. It is in this case that I believe the story becomes even more important, because we can learn what it is that drives the characters in the book.In many ways, The Devil in the White City is more about redemption than the one that deals with salvation. It is also about the character of Lavinia, the central character who give s us another lesson; one that we could only learn from the life of these characters. She is a woman who want to see justice served, but in this case it is not. Both of these books are classic and are highly recommended reading material. It is best to compare and contrast these two classic works to see whether their differences are necessary to the truth of their stories.
